Obama’s Vero Possumus Seal of Approval?

Or, Obama’s Seal of Democratic Victory?

Senator Barack Obama’s new seal combines the elements of the actual presidential seal and Obama’s logo.

During a economic roundtable with 16 Democratic governors on June 20th, Senator Barack Obama revealed his new presidential seal, a bald eagle and the latin phrase “vero possumus” between its wings.

Could the Latin motto, “Vero Possumus” mean “The dead playing possum speaks truthfully?”

According to a news report, “Vero Possumus” translates to “Yes, We Can!,” the chant of the faithful supporters at Obama rallies. Yet, Matthew Crozier, a Latin scholar, proclaims the Obama motto means “In truth we are able.”

The Latin motto, “Vero Possumus” can also mean “In truth, have influence” which is most likely closer to the truth when you consider the endorsement of Obama by Al Gore, the inventor of Global Warming, whose “energy efficient” home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in one year which is enough to power 19 average American homes.

Some believe Obama’s faux presidential seal violates federal law, Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 33, Section 713. If true, Obama could be the first Presidential candidate to be fined or imprisoned up to six months, or both. Obama, who graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review, should know the Key phrase of the statute, “Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President …” and Obama should know the consequences of reproducing any “likeness of the seals of the President…in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States…” since one of the primary duties of the President is enforcing the laws of our nation.
